The Lotus Notes / IBM Domino Administrator is responsible for the maintenance, administration, and support of the organization’s IBM Domino servers and Lotus Notes client environment. This role ensures optimal system performance, reliability, and security by performing routine maintenance tasks, troubleshooting issues, and supporting end users and applications built on the Domino platform.
Perform daily administration of IBM Domino servers, including monitoring logs, server statistics, replication health, and overall system performance.
Conduct scheduled maintenance tasks:
Database compaction, fixup, and index rebuilds
DAOS management
Transaction log monitoring
Apply Domino server fix packs, feature packs, and security updates.
Diagnose and resolve Domino server and Lotus Notes client issues, such as performance problems, replication failures, mail routing issues, and database corruption.
Provide Tier 2/3 support to end users, application owners, and IT support teams.
Investigate and resolve issues related to Domino databases, mail files, policies, and configurations.
Manage user IDs, certificates, and the ID Vault.
Review and update database ACLs.
Ensure Domino server security settings align with organizational policies.
Oversee server backups and verify successful completion.
Perform restore testing and assist in disaster recovery planning.
Document system configurations, maintenance procedures, troubleshooting steps, and root-cause analyses.
Recommend improvements to system performance, reliability, and administrative processes.
3+ years of experience administering IBM Domino servers and Lotus Notes clients.
Strong understanding of:
Domino server architecture and clustering
Replication, routing, and server console administration
Domino database structures (NSF/NTF)
IDVault, policies, and certificate management
Experience performing database maintenance (compact/fixup/updall).
Proven troubleshooting skills in enterprise Notes/Domino environments.
Familiarity with Windows Server or Linux (Domino OS platforms).
Ability to respond to outages and critical incidents.
