BI Team Lead/Sr. Analyst
Overview: 
We are seeking a Team Leader / Sr. Analyst for our BI team. The person would be leading a team of about 5 BI analysts and developers. The person would play a key role in driving the use of analytics throughout the organization. This would involve interfacing with the leaders within sales and marketing, purchasing, distribution and supply chain organizations across our operating companies, understanding their needs, and working with the BI team to address them. The person will also work with a distributed group of BI power users to provide them with the necessary tools and data access to help them develop basic reports for their own needs. As time permits, the person will assist with analysis and development of reports and BI capabilities. The ideal candidate for this role is a Sr. BI analyst or developer who has worked in an agile environment or an individual with in-depth business knowledge of sales and marketing, supply chain management and financial accounting.  This individual is ready to take on a team lead role while retaining some individual responsibility for BI reporting as well.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Organize daily standup meetings and serve as the agile coach for the BI team.
  • Organize BI Steering Committee meetings to prioritize incoming requests.
  • Act as a senior analyst to field some of incoming requests for BI reporting and analysis by participating in the development of new BI reports and capabilities.
  • Act as the face of the BI team by partnering with a geographically distributed group of users, from executives to warehouse personnel, and identifying solutions that help meet their needs.
  • Drive the success of BI self-service capability by organizing and supporting the group of BI power users across the organization, and ensure easy access to BI tools and data from various sources.
  • Drive the definition, development, communication, and implementation of standards, processes, and procedures for the BI team. Also assist with defining departmental standards, processes, and procedures.
  • Have regular communication with BI users across the different regions within the US, understand their needs, and work with the BI team to address them at the appropriate priority level.
  • Lead the selection process of additional BI tools by identifying requirements, reviewing the market landscape and interfacing with the vendors, and then identifying the appropriate technology. Ensure team participation in the decision making process. 
  • Work in a highly visible role that will interact with individuals at all organizational levels, internal and external.

Minimum Requirements

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university, or equivalent experience.
  • A Minimum of 8 years of IT experience with at least 5 years of experience as a BI analyst or developer.
  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills and demonstrated ability to lead a team of IT professionals.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and ability to understand customer needs and translate them into requirements.
  • 2-4 years work experience in operational or financial reporting
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL queries and Excel.
  • Some team leadership experience and prior agile experience required
Preferences:
  • Past experience with the Microsoft BI stack; SSRS, SSAS (multi-dimensional and tabular cubes) and PowerBI strongly preferred
  • Alternate BI technologies will be considered a plus.
  • Previous experience in Consumer Products or Distribution Industry is a plus.
