Job Summary
The Senior Security Engineer is responsible for the overall design/architecture, implementation and support of security systems and solutions.  Primary duties include protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and information assets through implementation of best practice technologies and processes.  The senior security engineer is a technical subject matter expert that is responsible for solutions design including continuous innovations and enhancements to security policies, standards, and technologies.  The senior engineer assists with long-term strategic planning while maintaining daily operations, and mentoring others on the information security team.
 
Responsibilities
  • Design, architect, and implement security solutions to support business requirements
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations (i.e. PCI DSS)
  • Evaluate and implement advanced security solutions for malware, virus, and phishing protection, privileged account management, and security incident and event management (SIEM)
  • Evaluate and recommend solutions for data loss prevention (DLP), file integrity monitoring (FIM), and a growing mobility environment
  • Create and support security awareness programs to inform and educate employees
  • Develop, implement and mature security incident response and operations process
  • Enhance threat and vulnerability management reducing time to detect and respond
  • Design and implement configuration management processes and technologies to secure operating systems and applications
  • Work with vendors, external organizations, and customers to define security requirements and identify project opportunities
  • Develop detailed proposals and plans for information security systems that enhance or enable new capabilities information systems
  • Define, develop, and communicate processes for implementing security policies
  • Research, design, recommend and plan implementation of new and improved information security solutions
  • Act as lead technical expert on large security projects

Qualifications / Requirements
  • 8+ years Information Security experience with 3+ years in a senior or lead role
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, related field or equivalent experience
  • Extensive experience with next generation enterprise-level firewalls
  • Extensive experience enterprise-level routers/switches
  • Experience with SSL VPN technology
  • Firm understanding of SIEM solutions
  • Strong understanding of network segmentation and virtual contexts/firewalls
  • Detailed understanding of Linux/Unix and Windows server systems
  • Extensive hands on experience troubleshooting security and networking issues
  • Familiarity with enterprise-level wireless technology and 802.1x authentication
  • Experience with vulnerability scanners, protocol sniffers and penetration testing
  • Practical understanding of multi-factor authentication solutions
  • Strong professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong people and relationship management skills
 
 
Preferred Experience
  • Security certifications a plus (ex. CISSP, CEH, OSCP, GISP, GCIH, GPEN, and CCSP)
  • Experience with web application firewalls is preferred
  • Experience with SIEM is preferred
