UI/Design Developer

Location: St. Louis, Missouri, United States Minor Outlying I
Date Posted: 06-06-2015
Description of Position
We’re looking for a software developer with a passion for their craft. We are developing a new software application for the analysis and visualization of genomic data, so we are looking for someone who has strong UI design and development expertise.  This application will deal with Big Data in the analysis of exome and whole genome data, so experience in developing strong user interfaces that allow users to manipulate and filter large data sets is key.  Bioinformatics experience a strong plus.
We want a developer who enjoys learning the latest technologies and is constantly honing their craft. We want developers who learn new things on their own because they want to. If there’s technology you think will help us be more productive we want to hear about it.
We make time in our sprints to improve our architecture and remove technical debt. We have an automated set of build processes and can do a release in one step. We have a multitude of automated tests that run on each push. We won’t accept a feature without unit, integration, and functional tests and neither should you.
Appistry promotes an open culture in which you can make a difference. All of our developers are highly capable and you won’t be picking up anyone else’s slack. We measure performance by the contributions you make. We expect commitment and results but also know that you have a life outside of work. Appistry’s work in life science and personalized medicine provide you with the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives.
Appistry has a vibrant startup environment. We have a stimulating workplace in downtown St. Louis in a renovated warehouse close to Busch Stadium. It is 100% naturally lit. Downtown St. Louis, Soulard and Busch Stadium are just a short walk away.
