SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Provides database administration/UNIX support for production, development, and test environments to include day-to-day monitoring and maintenance, problem investigation and resolution, backup creation and maintenance, SQL and database optimization and tuning as well as providing leading efforts to research, analyze, and recommend patches, upgrades, and new technologies surrounding all aspects of data management using relational databases/UNIX.
 
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Create and maintain databases required for development, testing, and production usage to ensure the business is provided with timely, high quality, accurate and protected information used by the Oracle ERP System and any business systems that are critical to supporting the business.
  • Control database changes and perform ongoing tuning of the database instances.
  • Install new versions of the Oracle database as needed.
  • Plan and implement backup and recovery of the Oracle database.
  • Optimize and continuously improve the quality of systems and outputs for company operations with particular emphasis upon improving data integrity and timeliness, including performing database re-organization as required to assist performance and ensure maximum uptime of the database.
  • Communicating to the team business requirements and priorities - including key business deliverables and expected results.
  • Researching and recommending new technologies and solutions to meet business needs
  • Ensuring enterprise data is widely available as required by applications.
  • Provide technical support to application development teams regarding databases and applications they interface with.
  • Coordinating and assisting with key system testing as appropriate, such as system integration, performance, and stress testing.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of 6 years as an Oracle Database Administrator specializing in E-Business Suite administration, operations, support and maintenance.
    • Minimum 3 years working knowledge with computer hardware including Servers, UNIX or Linux.
    • Minimum 3 years working knowledge of SQL databases including support, maintenance, tuning.

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple objectives
  • Communicate complex issues in both oral and written form in terms clearly understood by technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Performing duties in a self-directed manner with minimal supervision or direction.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of analysis, design and configuration of complex systems.
  • Oracle database administration experience to include versions 9i,10G, 11G.
  • Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.10.2 .
  • Oracle Application Server 10g and up.
  • Snap Manager experience.
  • RMAN backup experience.
  • SQL experience with expert-level skills in the SQL language.
  • Shell Scripting.
  • SQL database design knowledge, support and maintenance.

    Preferred Skills:
    • Oracle E-Business Suite R12 (12.1.3).
    • Data governance
    • NetApp
    • Unix/Linux/Solaris support experience
 
EDUCATION:           
Bachelors in Computer Science/MIS or related field, or equivalent work experience
