Requirement
This is a solid Business Analyst/light PM type of role.  Our customer needs someone who can step in, work in a very fast-paced environment, take initiative and document requirements for upcoming projects focused on new business integrations.  One major initiative is creating new enhancement/additions to a Sales Commissions Program encompassing 3,000 new commissioned employees from Field Technicians to Major Sales Executives. 

This Business Analyst will work with Human Resources, Payroll Department, Customer Care, Field Operations and Sales Retention Team to gather their requirements, document processes, and make sure the new system(s) work accordingly.  This project will work with highly important/confidential information (salaries, etc), so it’s important that this person is very attentive to details.  This is definitely an environment for quick and efficient thinkers, people with an investigative and curious mind, and those that enjoy fast-paced challenges.  Functional specs and requirement gathering will be needed.  This is not a technical role, but it is planted in the middle of technical groups, so technical comprehension will be needed.

Specific Need
Our customer has 3 immediate needs for solid Business Analysts for new projects that will run through the end of the year (and likely longer).  These openings are on the business side (not IT) and interface to the business managers to understand their business requirements, they document these requirements, enter into an existing template format, then work with the development team to share those requirements, identify test cases and test scripts, follow through to ensure that all testing is complete, go back through and make sure that the development meets the business needs (UAT), by testing against the user’s requirements.  Telecom/Cable industry experience is not necessary. 

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary, he/she needs to be very familiar with Visio for mapping out processes, MS Project is a big plus (not a must) for entering project fundamentals, and be comfortable with all MS Office Products.  It is a position that will require on-site work.  It is a very fast-paced environment, so individuals will need to be able to pick things up quickly.  There is a learning curve that is expected.   Qualified individuals should be able to walk through projects they’ve worked on in detail:  Talked to the business owner, documented the requirements, identify test cases and test scripts,  work the development team to ensure needs were met, worked with testing, then perform and ensure UAT met the initial requirements the customer desired.  In essence, walk through the lifecycles they’ve worked in previously.

JOB SUMMARY
Serves as a liaison between the business community and the IT organization in order to provide technical solutions to meet user needs. Possesses expertise in the business unit(s) they support, as well as, an understanding of the IT organization's systems and capabilities. Educates the IT organization on the direction of the business. May make recommendations for 'buy vs. build' decision.  Provides complex analysis services translating user needs into detailed specifications to allow Information Technology Department to deliver an appropriate solution.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION
  • Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience
  • Analyzes business partner's operations to understand their strengths and weaknesses to determine opportunities to automate processes and functions
  • Assists in the business process redesign and documentation as needed for new technology
  • Translates high level business requirements into functional specifications for the IT organization and manages changes to such specifications
  • Negotiates agreements and commitments by facilitating communication between business unit(s) and IT from initial requirements to final implementation
  • Works with business partners within one business function to align technology solutions with business strategies
  • Supports several moderately complex business processes
  • Assists Project Managers in development of project plans and use associated project planning tools as needed
  • Assumes the Project Manager responsibilities in preparing and facilitating the project plan for smaller projects
  • Conducts feasibility studies to assess cost/benefit, efficiency and technical viability of solutions to business problems
  • Coaches less experience staff

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
4 to 6 years of relevant technical or business work experience
